Nyema Beauty was founded by two Burmese sisters with a deep passion for sharing the ancient skincare secrets of Myanmar with the Western world. Growing up, we marveled at how our elders maintained smooth, radiant skin, despite living in harsh environments. In the villages, modern skincare was a luxury we never had—we relied solely on nature’s gifts.
We watched our grandparents grind tree bark into a soothing paste and extract oils from plants, creating powerful, time-tested remedies. Among all the ingredients used, three stood out—Thanaka, Rosehip Oil, and Moringa Oil—staples in Burmese beauty rituals for centuries.
What is Thanaka?
For over 2,000 years, Burmese people have used Thanaka, a natural cosmetic and skincare paste made by grinding the bark of the Limonia acidissima tree with water. Applied to the face, neck, and arms, it provides a cooling effect, protects against the sun, and enhances natural beauty. Thanaka remains an essential part of Myanmar’s culture, passed down through generations.
What is Rosehip Oil?
Rosehip oil is nature’s answer to hydrated, glowing skin. Extracted from wild rose bushes, it is packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that nourish, brighten, and repair the skin. While deeply rooted in traditional Burmese beauty, rosehip oil is now gaining worldwide recognition for its ability to heal, restore, and rejuvenate.
What is Moringa Oil?
Moringa oil, derived from the seeds of the Moringa oleifera tree, is known in Myanmar as a miracle elixir for the skin. Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids, this lightweight yet deeply hydrating oil helps reduce fine lines, fade dark spots, and protect the skin from environmental stressors.
